We're loving this garden gym studio by Timeless Garden Rooms. Known for their charming pitched roof garden rooms which are packed with traditional details, their new Garden Studio range, however, has a more contemporary feel, as we can see.
2.8m high garden gym
As standard, the Garden Studio range is 2.5 meters tall, which offers great flexibility when building under the Permitted Development rules.
Timeless Garden Rooms, however, can tailor the dimensions of their garden studios to meet your needs. That's what happened with this project.
The customer wanted to create a home gym studio. In thinking about how they would be using the space - weights, exercise bike, cross trainer, etc., it was decided that they needed more headroom inside the building. They chose a 2.8m design, adding 300mm to the overall height of the building.
Because of this additional height and the positioning of the garden studio, it couldn't be built under the Permitted Development rules, and a Planning Application was required for the project. The Timeless Garden Rooms team handled this application for their client, making it a stressfree process.
Interestingly, we are seeing more and more garden gym buildings designed to be 2.8 meters high. While the internal ceiling height will differ slightly between companies based on the thickness of their construction build-up, it is obviously a height that works well for a home gym studio.
Garden gym built on sloping ground
We are taken with how well the Timeless Garden Rooms team have designed and detailed the gym studio to overcome the sloping ground. They have managed to hide the sloping ground and foundation system, without making it too obvious.
We particularly like how they have extended the planed Larch featheredge cladding down below the bottom of the wall frame and shaped the boards to follow the profile of the sloping ground.
The Timeless Garden Rooms team have also made a feature of the slope at the front of the building. They have added a veranda in front of the bi-fold doors, which will fold back to form free-flowing movement between room and veranda. Two steps have been made to create easy access in and out of the gym.
