This stylish one-bedroom garden annexe is a bespoke design by White Peak Design & Build. It sits on a footprint of 9.5m wide by 5.5m deep with accommodation comprising a bedroom, a multifunction kitchen living space and an accessible bathroom.
White Peak Design and Build are bespoke design specialists who have a flare for creating contemporary-style garden buildings, as you can see in the articles we have written about them over the years.
Alongside their garden room buildings, they also design and build self-contained garden annexes. As bespoke designers, they tailor each project around each client's unique requirements. This living annexe project is an excellent example of that approach.
Annexe with lots of windows
A key feature of this annexe is its unique window configuration, ensuring a lovely light living space. White Peak Design and Build designed a steel framework to support the large expanses of glazing, which, as we can see from these photos, forms the corner of the building.
Signature cladding detail
We have commented in other articles how White Peak Design and Build have an eye for detailing exterior cladding. The external detailing of this annexe project is no exception.
The exterior walls have been clad in cement fibre board in a dark grey/black colouring. These boards are pigmented during manufacturing, so they won't lose their colour or require repainting to maintain their appearance.
Kiln-dried Western Red Cedar has been used to accentuate aspects of the building, such as the entrance porch and the bigger casement window.
If this look appeals to you, you might like to explore another project where White Peak Design and Build have mixed black cement board with Cedar.
Turnkey service
White Peak Design and Build offer their customers a turnkey service where they handle the whole project for their clients, from design to the final connections.
They seem well-equipped for a challenge. The White Peak team told us that on this project, 200 tonnes of ground were excavated to create a level entrance into the annexe. On another project we featured recently, the team had to crane all the materials for the build over the main house before work started!
