Garden 2 Office have sent through details of a garden room they have created for use as a home cinema. At 5.3m x 3m the building was built under Permitted Development rules so Planning Permission was not required.
The customer wanted the building to have two key uses. Primarily the building is to be used as a home cinema with room for comfortable seating. He also wanted some extra storage space.
Garden 2 Office use a modular Swedish building system which is highly insulated, meaning this garden cinema will be a comfortable space to spend time all year round.
This was quite a tricky site. The actual workspace was limited and the building had to be wrapped around an palm tree. To ensure the structural integrity of their building system the Garden 2 Office team boxed the tree in with their highly insulated panels and then covered the roof in the durable EPDM roofing. This is a clever workaround as you can see from the photos.
The customer chose a number of optional extras to truly tailor the building to his needs. These included:
- ? Built in internal storage room.
- ? Front and side access
- ? Shelving built into the wall units
- ? Hidden HDMI conduit from ceiling mounted projector to shelving unit
- ? Feature wallpaper on back wall
- ? Remote activated canopy lights, interior spotlights and wall lights, all
- activated separately
- ? Multiple USB port sockets
- ? Bi-fold doors spanning whole of main room
The complexity of the build and all the optional extras increased the build time on this project from Garden 2 Offices standard 2.5 – 3.5 weeks. This project cost around £20,000 which we think is very good, but Garden 2 Office tell us a similar sized building without the extras would cost less than this.
