Garden rooms have many potential uses, this recent project by Miniature Manors is one of the most entertaining. Miniature Manor’s client wanted to create their own pub in their garden as a place for them to retreat to at the end of the day and to entertain friends. They wanted to create the ideal party space that could easily spill out into the garden, a room that can be used all year round, that reflects the seaside vibe of Brighton, where they live.
Miniature Manors designed a 4 meter by 3 meter garden room. The building has a maximum height of 2.5 meters which means it could be built under the Permitted Development rules. The building sits on a concrete slab foundation and is insulated for year round use with Celotex insulation.
The walls have been clad externally with pressure treated tongue & groove boards. The pressure treating preserves the timber against rot and fungal attack. The Miniature Manors team have then painted the boards in a blue colour which reflects the colours of the seaside location.
To enhance the connection between the room and the garden it sits within, two sets of bi-fold doors have been fitted. Once folded back they create a free-flowing, inside-outside space.
Internally the room features a fully plastered and decorated walls and ceiling and a wooden floor. A drinks bar has been fitted, complete with bar stools.
