Garden Spaces are one of the few specialists who can attach their garden room designs to a house as an extension. They recently designed and built this contemporary Cedar clad extension for a family looking to extend their kitchen with a light-filled playroom.
A spacious 6.09m x 3.09m room has been created. A key feature is a glazed corner made up with two sets of aluminium sliding doors. Many designs like this, would have a corner post supporting the roof structure. With clever design, the Garden Spaces team have been able to eliminate this post, allowing the corner of the room to be opened up onto the garden.
Don't fear that the roof is not supported, cantilever principles will have been designed-in and we expect steel beams will have been incorporated to distribute the weight.
Beautiful Western Red Cedar has been used to clad the exterior of the extension. This is a popular finish in garden room design because of its natural durability and aesthetic appeal. Its use has tied the new extension in with other elements of the house that have been clad in Cedar.
Inside, the Garden Spaces team have plastered and decorated the room. We like how the plastering has been detailed to expose the beauty of the stone wall.
One window has been left as an internal window feature, while a large opening creates a free-flowing connection between the kitchen and playroom areas.
Garden Spaces use a highly insulated SIP's panels for their house extensions and are au fait with ensuring extension designs like this are building regulation compliant.
