The flexibility of garden room design, means a building can be designed around the specific needs of a business, as this project by Glasgow based Outside In Garden Rooms shows. The 5m x 3m building has been designed around the specific needs of a successful embroidery business.
Sandra, Outside In Garden Rooms client was running her business from a commercial unit, but this was not how she wanted to work longterm. She wanted to improve her work-life balance and decided a purpose-built workspace in the garden of her home was the solution.
Sandra decided that Outside In Garden Rooms Uno design, was the range for her. The Outside In team and Sandra worked collaboratively to tailor the layout and specification around the needs of the business.
With delicate work like embroidery, natural working light is important. We like the combination of doors and windows that were chosen to achieve a naturally light room. Sliding doors have been mixed with a combination of window styles. Two large picture windows ensure the workspace is full of natural light while a handy small opening window is ideal for ventilating the space.
As we can see, the interior of the studio is wonderfully light and airy. Light bounces off the plastered and decorated walls and ceiling. Unusually, Sandra chose a white Quick Step laminate flooring to ensure she can spot a dropped needle or pin! White furniture enhances the modern light feel further.
Part of the brief for the studio was that there be an area for relaxing and entertaining alongside the work area. The studio has plenty of room for a comfy sofa. A popup workstation can be folded down to increase the size of the relaxation space.
The Outside In Garden Rooms team have clearly met their brief, as Sandra explains:
