This 30sqm building by Blyss Garden Rooms has been tailored to an osteopath's requirements. The multifunctional space will serve as a home office and treatment room, the structure of the building having been reinforced to accommodate ceiling-mounted equipment.
The Blyss Garden Rooms team have reinforced the roof structure so that ceiling hooks could be installed. Their client wanting to install ceiling-mounted rope ladders and an Indian swing for use in their treatments.
3m tall garden office
So that the hanging equipment could be used comfortably, a 3m high building was decided upon. Most garden offices are 2.5m high as this offers maximum flexibility under the Permitted Development rules.
A planning application was submitted to allow for the taller building.
A toilet saves patients needing to use the house
The office/treatment room is completed with the addition of a toilet. This is convenient for patients and helps enforce the distinction between work and home life.
We like how a pocket door has been used; this type of door is a great space-saving solution.
Cedral exterior cladding
At 30sqm, this garden office needed to comply with Building Regulations. A designer makes several tweaks to the layers of the specification to ensure the building is constructed from non-combustible materials. One key layer in this build-up is the exterior cladding; the Blyss Garden Rooms team chose Cedral cladding.
Cedral cladding is a popular choice for the exterior of a garden office. Not only is it a vital layer of a Building Regulation compliant build-up it is also very low maintenance.
Cedral cladding is a cement fibre board, so it will not rot. It comes in a range of colours, which are baked in during the manufacturing process, so it doesn't require painting to maintain its appearance.
Well specified electrics
As we can see from these images, the office has a plastered and decorated interior. It also features a well-specified electrical system. The package includes air conditioning so that the owner can set their perfect temperature all year round.
Ethernet cabling for a reliable internet connection and HDMI cabling and speakers have been installed to use a projector in two locations.
