This multifunction garden building is by Ark Design Build and has created a space where the owners can work, exercise and entertain. A fully insulated garden room has been extended with a covered seating area alongside.
We have seen Ark Design Build design this type of inside-outside living space before with these projects:
The insulated room sits on a footprint of 5m x 3m. Peaking through the windows, we can see it will serve as a home office with space for gym equipment.
This room has a nice glazing configuration with a tall window with an opening section mixed with two sets of sliding doors positioned to create a glazed corner.
One set of sliding doors leads straight onto the garden; the other set leads into the 3m x 3m covered seating area.
Often when we explore this type of garden room, the outdoor seating area has one or two solid walls supporting the roof canopy. The owners of this building wanted more of a connection with the garden, so the canopy is supported with posts, creating three open sides.
Exterior grade LED downlights have been fitted in the underside of the canopy around the central skylight. As we can see, the lighting looks great and extends the useability of the space into the evening.
