Often people work alone in a garden office, but they can be great places for two or more people to work comfortably. This bespoke design by Executive Garden Rooms is an excellent example of a garden office designed to accommodate the working needs of two people with space for a sofa for downtime.

Rather than be confined to standard sizes, like many companies, Executive Garden Rooms can design specific-sized buildings. In this case, their customers wanted to accommodate two workstations and office storage, with space for a sofa. The office has a footprint of 3.9m wide by 2.8m deep.
Corner aspect glazing
A key feature of this garden office is the corner of floor-to-ceiling glazing, which frames a nice view of the garden and ensures the room is naturally light.
One section of the glazing configuration has an opening window, which will allow the owners to let air into the room easily.
To control the light entering the office, Executive Garden Rooms clients chose to add integral blinds to the doors and windows. Often overlooked by garden office buyers, integral blinds are a beneficial glazing upgrade option.
Integral blinds work well in garden offices as the blinds are fitted within the glazing, so you can open the doors and windows without the blinds flapping. They also don't get dusty!
Fusion of exterior cladding finishes
Two low-maintenance exterior cladding materials have been used on this building. The front and right-hand elevations have been finished in Western Red Cedar. The rich natural colouring of the Cedar mixes well with the Anthracite grey window frames.
Light grey Cedral cement fibre board cladding has been fitted on the rear and left-hand walls. Cedral is a popular choice with Executive Garden Rooms customers and has been featured on several projects we have written about.
Well-specified, light-filled workspace
Executive Garden Rooms complete the interior of their garden offices with a plastered and decorated finish. As we can see, the natural light from the glazed corner bounces around the room.
The office has a well-specified electrical system. This system includes a plentiful supply of double sockets, LED downlights, a Cat6 data point and a smoke alarm. Executive Garden Rooms also fitted an external Phillips Hue light.
Executive Garden Rooms connected the office's electrical system to the main house as part of their service. This is a task that many other companies ask you to arrange separately.
