Forge - zero maintenance garden rooms

FORGE is a range of zero-maintenance garden rooms by one of the longest-established names in the industry Smart Modular Buildings.

Their new FORGE range adds a completely maintenance-free option to their portfolio.
Smart Modular Buildings have designed the FORGE as a timber-free garden room. They have combined an insulated steel frame with composite exterior cladding and a high-spec aluminium framed door and windows to create a building that does not require any maintenance.
The FORGE comes in three sizes and includes several features as standard, such as heating and exterior lighting, that other companies only offer as extras. Prices start at £13,745, including VAT.

Timber-free garden room construction
Smart Modular Buildings have designed and specified the FORGE range to be timber-free.
An insulated steel framework has been chosen for the core structure of the FORGE. This is clad externally with a composite cladding which doesn't require painting to maintain its appearance or to protect it.
The composite cladding that Smart Modular Buildings have chosen for the FORGE utilises Kerracore technology. Unlike many other composite cladding options, the cladding does not include any wood in its makeup. Instead, polymers and mineral additives are used, creating a board with a surface that is resistant to impact and scratches.
The surface of the cladding has an attractive wood grain pattern and comes in a palette of nine colours. The cladding will maintain its colour in the long term and is not susceptible to fading or discolouration. It comes with a 10-year warranty.
The FORGE features Aluminium double glazed doors and windows. This is a nice feature that you commonly only see specified in much more expensive garden rooms.
Modern interior
Inside, the FORGE has a light modern feel thanks to the white, silk finish MDF lining. Again, no maintenance is required with this finish. If you had a mark, you could just wash it off.
Flooring is included in the price or the FORGE. You can choose from five colours of laminate flooring or pick a luxury vinyl finish.
The FORGE is well specified electrically. A contemporary square lighting panel is fitted on the ceiling. The light switch and power sockets are all flush fitted. The specification also includes exterior lighting and a wall-mounted, thermostatically controlled electric heater.
Option of a living roof covering
Another nice option with the FORGE range is that you can add a living roof covering if you wish. When viewed from above, a planted roof adds interest to a garden room's roof. It also adds an additional layer of thermal insulation and helps reduce sound transmission and water runoff.
A living roof covering helps reduce carbon too. For instance, a living roof covering added to the FORGE 6, as seen in these images, would save 35kg of CO2 each year.
As part of the FORGE's aim of reducing carbon, Smart Modular Buildings will offset the carbon produced in delivering your building.
