When you collaborate with an experienced garden room designer who understands space and the potential of their chosen building system, a garden room can fulfil two distinct functions while remaining a cohesive space. This project by Timber Rooms exemplifies this dual-purpose approach.
Timber Rooms' clients sought to create a building that would serve both as a home office and a comfortable entertainment area, enabling them to enjoy time with family and friends throughout the year.
It is well documented that building a garden office can significantly aid in maintaining a work-life balance. Similarly, having a designated home entertainment space offers the advantage of enjoying quality time with loved ones away from the distractions of the main house, providing a sense of escapism.
L-shaped garden room
Timber Rooms specialises in bespoke garden room designs. For this project, an L-shaped building was chosen, with glazing oriented towards the heart of the garden. This layout has yielded a spacious entertainment area complete with a cosy sitting room, a dining area, and the convenience of a bathroom and kitchenette. The smaller wing houses the home office. The two rooms function independently with their own external access but are also unified, with both spaces sharing access to the amenities.
Take a look at this video tour:
The glazing is designed to strengthen the connection with the garden, with the standout feature being the aluminium Anthracite Grey bi-fold doors that open the entertainment room to the outdoors. The flooring of the garden room is flush with the bi-fold threshold and the stone paving, facilitating seamless indoor-outdoor living—ideal for gatherings that extend into the garden.
The Anthracite Grey frames & trims, complemented by the Western Red Cedar cladding, accentuate the rich reddish-brown tones for which Cedar is renowned.
Internally, Timber Rooms finish their rooms to a high standard, with plastered and decorated walls and ceilings. Quality internal doors, complete with architraves, provide access to each room.
Timber Rooms offers a turnkey service, managing the entire project from the initial designs to the final connections, ensuring a ready-to-use space upon completion. In this case, the service included undertaking the groundworks and mains connections for the bathroom and kitchen.
