In the countryside of Oxford, farmers have been reunited with their land and moved closer to their children and grandchildren. A Room in the Garden, known for their bespoke mobile home designs, has played a pivotal role in reuniting a family with their cherished farmland. Their latest project, is a testament to their skill in creating custom-designed living spaces. The design complies with the regulations of the Caravan Act, rather than requiring full planning permission and Building Regulation approval. Securing a Lawful Development Certificate for each project, A Room in the Garden ensures legality and this approach offers significant VAT benefits.
This particular mobile home, built upon a ground screw foundation, is capable of being removed without leaving a trace of its existence. We have previously showcased various living spaces by A Room in the Garden, each uniquely tailored to fit the space available and the client's specific needs.
A Farmhouse Kitchen
One of the most striking features of this garden home is its vast kitchen, resembling a true farmhouse kitchen in both scale and feel. A Room in the Garden collaborates closely with each client to select the style and layout of the kitchen units, crafting spaces that resonate with personal tastes and requirements. In this case, a sage-hued kitchen was chosen, with sleek black quartz counters setting a tone of modern elegance. The traditional farmhouse kitchen table, situated under a large skylight, is a delightful touch, inviting natural light to flood the room and create a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
Utility Room: Functionality Meets Design
Adjacent to the kitchen is a thoughtfully designed utility room, housing the washing machine and tumble dryer. With doors leading to the outdoors, it serves as a practical yet elegant addition to the garden home, showcasing A Room in the Garden's commitment to creating spaces that are not only beautiful but highly functional.
Bedroom and En-Suite: Comfort and Style
The bedroom features an expansive glazing, offering views of the paddock. Custom storage solutions add practicality to this comfortable space. The luxurious ensuite features his and her's vanities and a spacious shower, adding a touch of indulgence to the everyday. The en-suite shower room, accessed through a space-saving pocket door, is well-appointed, echoing the client's preference in style, sanitaryware, tiling, and layout.
Exterior Finishes: A Harmony of Textures
Redwood timber cladding envelops the exterior, blending seamlessly with the rural surroundings. The recessed area on the front elevation, rendered in white, presents a striking contrast against the natural textures of the weatherboard timber cladding and the Anthracite Grey door and window frames. This juxtaposition creates a welcoming and visually appealing entrance.
The alignment of the front door with the bi-folding doors on the rear elevation offers a clear sightline through the building, inviting you in to explore the space.
