This garden room by Executive Garden Rooms has been designed to provide both spaces to work and relax. Looking at the photos, we would say this brief has been met perfectly.
The building has been designed to sit in the corner of the garden. At 4.6m x 3.8m, it’s a substantial size building. It is clever how the Executive Garden Rooms team have used a deep roof overhang on the front and left-hand elevation, but not on the right-hand side so that it can be sited tight to the boundary. This is an example of how a bespoke garden room can be designed around the site it sits within.
The room can be sited within 1 meter of the boundary like this because Executive Garden Rooms have used a low maintenance, noncombustible cladding board called Cedral. Cedral is a cement based board that comes in many different colours.
The room has a great connection with the garden thanks to the large expanse of glazing on the front wall. A set of sliding doors has been fitted. These doors join in the middle and slide back to the sides creating a wide opening in the centre. A further glazed door has been used on the side wall for easy day to day access. This is clever positioning as it creates a wrap around corner of glazing as well as being very practical.
A small rectangular, opening window has been fitted high in the wall above the desk. This combined with the other glazing has created a naturally light working area.
The interior of the room has been fully plastered and decorated and a laminate flooring fitted. This is all part of Executive Garden Rooms turnkey service. Which also includes installing a reinforced concrete slab and connecting the electrics to the mains supply. Many garden room companies will ask you to organise this connection with a local electrician, so having it included in the project like this, is one less task for you.
Executive Garden Rooms client is clearly pleased with the turnkey service provided, saying:
From the start both Alison and John gave a slick and highly professional service. They paid attention to detail both before and during the build, always taking notice of our particular wishes. From the office Alison was quick to respond to emails, to offer advice and keep us informed. We were away for the first week so she sent photos every day to keep us involved. On site John worked so hard, always turned up on time, before 8am and worked until and beyond darkness, by lamp light if necessary! He never seemed to stop even when it rained. Mugs of tea were drunk “on the run” whilst working. His specialist colleagues, roofer, electrician, plasterer were clearly skilled. He was never phased by unexpected issues, no fuss, always cheerful and a pleasure to have with us for nearly 3 weeks. The Cedral weatherboard cladding blends in with the rest of the garden and contrary to cedar cladding, Cedral is maintenance free. The high level of insulation, solid foundations and attention to detail in the finish makes for a smart and comfortable additional work and relaxing space. High quality product and workmanship. We thank John and Alison for their advice, their friendly and professional approach and their skill in giving us a fantastic extra “space”. We would recommend Executive Garden Rooms to our friends and family, from initial impression and throughout planning and building process leads us to say – How could you not recommend Executive Garden Rooms? This small family run company is impressive. – J Castle, Hertfordshire
