SIPS Garden Rooms offer some background to this stunning multi functioning room in the garden.
The brief was to build a Garden Room with enough space to be a multi functioning room. The clients young lads were both well known rugby players(even the building control officer knew who they were) and they needed a gym space. Sky, BT and CAT 6 cabling were all installed along with a mini pumping station which was required as the fall for the waste was insufficient.
Secondary heating was provided by an electric underfloor system in the tiled area and an Air Source Heatpump(A/C in Summer)for the rest of the SIPS Garden Room.
Siberian Larch was chosen due to its dense wood grain(Cedar is softer)and it’s uniform colour; a coat of UV resistant wax/oil was also applied which slows down the “silvering” of the timber and can be reapplied after a few years without having to sand the Larch. The sides closest to the boundary(1m within)where clad in a non combustible cement boarding and the internal walls had fire rated plasterboarding as per current Building Regulations.
The EDPM we use on all our buildings is the commercial variant of the product which is thicker and is designed to take infrequent foot traffic; we feel it’s better to spend that little bit extra for peace of mind especially when there are surrounding trees involved.
Pre-treated Engineered Oak flooring and slate effect tiles were used as floor coverings, large white tiles covered the shower room walls and dimmerable LED down lights(External/Internal which have a 10 year manufacturer’s warranty)took care of the lighting options.
As we were ahead of schedule we supplied the client with a set of clear D/Glazed units while we waited on the frame matching Integrated blinds to arrive on-site.
