Garden offices are not just spaces for we adults to work, they can make great spaces for children to do their homework, free from distraction. This recent project by Dore Garden Offices has been designed as a homework room for two children.
The Cedar clad homework room sits on a footprint of 5 meters by 3 meters, creating plenty of space for two dedicated workstations. 5m x 3m is a versatile size for a garden office and means the room can easily be adapted for another use when homework is not an issue.
The design that Dore Garden Offices and their customer have created stands out. The aluminium clad bi-fold doors have been positioned in an alcove. This alcove detail creates a welcoming entrance to the room. It also creates two ‘wings’ where the desks are positioned. We like how narrow casement windows have been positioned in each of these wings. Positioned just above the desks, there will be no shortage of natural light to work in.
Dore Garden Offices were able to run an internet connection into the office as part of their electrical specification. They also fitted underfloor heating so the room will be a snug place to work on the coldest days of the year. The electrical specification was completed with ample power sockets and LED downlights.
