Garden rooms have always been popular with people who have a swimming pool in their garden as a place to change and retreat too after a swim. They are also very practical in that they can house the plant equipment that is necessary to run a swimming pool.
Working with a garden room designer, one well-designed building can be created with multiple functions. This recent build by Garden Spaces is a fine example of a contemporary pool and plant room alongside a swimming pool.
Garden Spaces client wanted to create a flexible space that could be used as a leisure retreat, house changing facilities a W.C. and the all important plant room, under one roof.
The Garden Spaces design team came up with a garden room that features a large section of wrap around glazing, which floods the room with natural light and creates a great connection with the landscaped garden. A substantial deck area has been created in front of the building which offers an additional space to relax.
A compact W.C has been incorporated into the design. A clever design trick of using a toilet cistern with small washbasin above is both practical and space saving.
An internal door leads from the main room to the plant room. This good size area houses the pumping and heating equipment for the swimming pool. The layout means the equipment is easy to access and maintain. The basic OSB finish of the SIP’s panels has been left exposed here.
Garden Spaces finish the interiors of their garden rooms to a high spec. The walls and ceiling are plastered and then decorated, and laminate flooring is used on the floor. The building is fully wired with LED downlights and ample double power sockets.
