We’re surprised that we haven’t featured Crusoe Garden Rooms on this guide before, after all they have built around 50 buildings throughout the UK, we actually found them by searching for Garden Rooms on eBAY!
As you can see from the collection of photos included in this article Crusoe Garden Rooms build contemporary garden rooms which include some unique design features.
Crusoe Garden Rooms is based in Nottingham making them perfectly positioned to supply all areas of the UK, the company is run by husband and wife team Trevor Naylor and Emma Shepherd who have over 30 years experience in the construction industry working on diverse projects from chapels to windmills before turning their attention to garden rooms.
Crusoe Garden Rooms offer a number of standard garden room designs which they show and sell on eBAY, but they also create bespoke garden room designs carefully designed and planned enabling the customer to have input into the design and specification of their individual project.
Each garden room is built to order, this enables Crusoe to source and use the best materials for the project including Western Red cedar not only for its beautiful colouring and patina but also for its built-in preservative qualities and minimum shrinkage and movement once fixed into position. Like the rubber membrane chosen for the roof covering, the cedar has a very long lifespan, exceeding fifty years.
Emma explains the initial customer contact with the team:
Your first point of contact whether by phone or by email will be either Trevor or myself and from the first site visit to the completion of the project, Trevor will be on site and involved hands on in the build throughout, making sure that your project runs smoothly and on schedule.
Our team of craftsmen are highly qualified and intelligent tradesmen. Care will always be taken to respect you, your property and that of your neighbours. We are able to offer advice and accommodate changes throughout the build.
Our builds take between 5 and 14 days depending on the size and specification of the build.
Taking a look at the specification of the Crusoe Garden Rooms on their website, the rooms have all the important aspects of a well built garden room. At the core is a traditional timber framework, the studs are at close centres so the frame will be sturdy, the important building membranes are listed, as are house quality doors and windows and a well specified electrical pack – read the specs yourself here.
If you would like to see an example of Crusoe Garden Rooms work, you can arrange an appointment to visit their show building in Nottingham.
Its difficult to give exact prices because all buildings are tailored to the customers needs and tastes, but as an indication a 3m x 2.4m starts at £6,950 and a 6m x 4m Classic design which includes decking, flooring, painting and a separate internal area with door costs £17,450. These prices include VAT, delivery, installation and the full specification as on their website. These prices seem very competitive to us!
