Crusoe Garden Rooms Limited is a long-established, family-run business with their own installation team who travel throughout the UK to install their buildings. Unlike many other garden room companies that outsource their work to various construction firms, Crusoe sends their dedicated in-house team for each project. They construct each garden room from scratch on-site, ensuring consistent quality and workmanship. Every member of the team is familiar with the project's specific requirements.
As you will see from the project below, the Crusoe Garden Rooms Limited team are not deterred by British weather conditions. Come rain or shine; they get the job done.
Lakeside Garden Room Project
Crusoe Garden Rooms Limited is not just about building quality garden rooms but about crafting spaces that harmonise with their surroundings, as showcased by this recent project in North Yorkshire.
Crusoe Garden Rooms were commissioned to build an 8m x 3.5m garden room, from their Logic range. Positioned to overlook the picturesque lake in the customer's garden, this room was set to become a year-round garden retreat. The Logic range was a perfect choice, its tall windows framing views of the garden throughout the different seasons.
Each Crusoe Garden Room is designed for comfortable year-round use. They are built on-site utilising an insulated timber frame core structure.
Construction took place in a particularly wet December. While the ground conditions posed a challenge, the Crusoe team showcased their dedication and expertise by swiftly installing the foundation and erecting the timber framework. You will note from these photos that the Crusoe team manages to maintain a tidy site as they work, even in challenging weather. Not all garden room companies can claim the same!
The Crusoe team quickly got the building weather-tight, wrapping the structure with a breather membrane and an EPDM roof covering, ensuring work could progress unhindered by the elements. Crusoe's trademark exterior, Western Red Cedar cladding, was then added. This highly durable softwood, with its rich reddish-brown hue that ages into a silvery grey, not only offers resistance to rot and fungal attack but adds a warm, natural aesthetic.
The garden room's doors and windows were finished in Anthracite grey uPVC- a smart contrast to the Cedar. They are double-glazed, further enhancing the room's thermal efficiency. The Logic range also features a distinctive roof canopy detail along the front elevation, fitted with exterior-grade downlights. On either side of the sliding doors, up/down lights have been fitted. This combination of lighting extends the room's use into the evening.
Interior Completed with a Wood Burner
Crusoe Garden Rooms Limited finish the interior of their buildings to a high specification. Plastered and decorated walls and ceiling are complemented by durable laminate flooring. This pairing results in a modern, light-filled space.
Crusoe’s clients wished to incorporate a wood-burning stove into their garden room, an addition that demands specialist installation and adherence to Building Regulations. The Crusoe team liaised with a wood-burning stove specialist, integrating the stove's requirements into the room's structure. As part of this process, sections of plasterboard were replaced with cement board, ensuring the stove's installation could proceed with minimal disruptions.
The result of all this hard work is a stunning garden room. It's a fantastic space for entertaining guests or just enjoying the view of the lake. The Crusoe team's commitment to quality and careful planning really shines through in this project.
