While garden room companies are very good at showcasing their designs on websites and in brochures, nothing beats spending time in one before buying. If you live in Surrey, London, or the surrounding counties of Kent, East Sussex, West Sussex, Hampshire, and Berkshire, you will want to have Garden Fortress on your list of companies to explore, and a visit to their Epsom Downs showroom is well worth the trip.
We first wrote about Garden Fortress in 2014 and have featured several examples of their garden rooms over the years. They have recently set up a new HQ in the Epsom Downs that doubles up as a showroom that prospective clients can book to view.
Based on the Classic Garden Room 4 model, Garden Fortress's showroom is a sharp-lined contemporary design when viewed from the outside, but step inside, and you couldn't fail to be impressed with how Dean, founder of Garden Fortress, has arranged the room to accommodate a hybrid of uses. It truly showcases how, with thought, a garden room can serve multiple uses under one roof.
Dean tells us that the garden room is in use every day, either as a home office or as a gym. There is also space for chilling out, a kitchenette for making drinks and a stylish shower room for freshening up after a workout.
The layout clearly works for Dean's lifestyle but also cleverly showcases several of the features that Garden Fortress can incorporate into their garden rooms. So is a great way to see the finish of options you might include in your own building.
The building sits on a square footprint of 5.5m x 5.5m. The sliding doors that form the entrance into the room have been recessed, creating a lovely porch detail. This recess is 800mm deep and features composite decking and recessed lighting in the roof canopy.
The recessed entrance creates an L-shaped layout inside, as we can see Dean has utilised the space at the front of the building as his office. A large window lets in plenty of natural light for working.

The shower room sits in the corner behind the office area. This is one of the nicest shower rooms we have seen in a garden room. It features an Anthracite Grey toilet and basin unit, and a tiled shower area and black accessories.
A kitchenette ideal for making drinks and snacks has cleverly been positioned in the area between the office and shower room.
The main room features a comfy sofa area for chilling out and a home gym for more physical activity. This building really does show how, with thought, a garden room can be used for multiple uses.
Key features of this garden rooms specification are:
