This recent project by Executive Garden Rooms demonstrates that it’s possible to create a professional office suite at the end of your garden.
Clients of Executive Garden Rooms, located near Ringwood in Hampshire, sought to create a two-room garden office where both could work from home. This his-and-hers office suite sits on an overall footprint of 7.4m x 3.4m. The floor plan is divided into two home offices, each with its own external access.
In the centre of the building is a cloakroom with a WC and a small kitchen area. These amenities are accessed from the left-hand office space but are designed for the convenience of both rooms.
The kitchenette includes a fridge and a composite sink with a water heater installed in the cupboard below—an ideal setup for making drinks and snacks throughout the workday.
As part of their turnkey service, Executive Garden Rooms handles the plumbing and electrical work for the kitchens and cloakrooms they install. This service includes all groundwork and connections to water and waste services to ensure compliance with Building Regulations.
As part of the plumbing specification for this project, an outside tap was installed. Such useful additions are the beauty of working with a bespoke garden room designer who tailors the space to your needs.
Well-Appointed Interiors
As the photos demonstrate, the two offices feature bright, modern interiors. Executive Garden Rooms finishes their buildings to a high standard, with plastered and decorated walls and ceilings, as well as quality flooring.
Both offices feature a large section of glazing on the front wall, providing a lovely connection to the garden. For privacy and light control, the doors and windows are fitted with blinds.
The glazing configuration includes a central door flanked by glazed sidelights. The top sections of these sidelights are operable, allowing the owners to easily ventilate the office.
Additionally, a small rectangular window has been positioned high on the rear wall, offering further ventilation and enhancing the natural light that fills the office.
Executive Garden Rooms provides one of the best thermal specifications on the market, ensuring their rooms are comfortable to use and energy-efficient. For the coldest days, slimline electric radiators have been installed.
In addition to heating, the electrical specification includes ample double power sockets and LED downlights recessed into the ceilings. Externally, a security light and outdoor power socket have been fitted. TP Cat6 data points bring Wi-Fi from the main house to the offices, and smoke alarms have been installed for added peace of mind.
Executive Garden Rooms’ electricians handle the electrical connection between the garden office and the house and test the new system as part of their turnkey service. This ensures the office is fully operational when the installation team leaves the site at the project’s conclusion.
Crisp White Render and Anthracite Grey Windows
The garden office boasts a smart exterior aesthetic, featuring a crisp white render on the front wall, paired with Anthracite Grey doors and window frames.
The side and rear walls are finished in Cedral, a cement-based composite board in a complementary grey finish.
