Garden room completes Feng Shui design
Published: 15 March 2023
Incorporating a garden room into a Feng Shui garden design can significantly enhance positive energy flow and create a harmonious outdoor space for relaxation and rejuvenation. This 5.5m x 3.5m design by Executive Garden Rooms plays a key role in the overall garden design.
The black external finishes mean the building harmonises with the Japanese theme. The materials used to build the outdoor room complement the five elements important in a Feng Shui garden - wood, fire, earth, metal and water. The design incorporates timber cladding, high-spec metal door and window frames and a decorative rain chain, which are commonly used in Japan rather than a downpipe, creating an attractive water feature from the moisture that runs off the roof.
The addition of a garden room is perfect in a Feng Shui garden as it can serve as a sanctuary for meditation, reflection, or simply enjoying the natural surroundings.
Seamless connection between indoor and outdoor spaces
High-spec Aluminium bi-fold doors have been fitted on the front elevation, offering a seamless flow of movement between indoor and outdoor spaces. A tall opening window has been positioned on the left-hand elevation, framing a view of the garden. A letterbox-style window has been fitted high up in the rear wall; the owners can easily open this to let air into the room.
The doors and windows feature integral blinds. The blind is fitted within the glazing units, so they are discreet and don’t become dusty!
The powder-coated Aluminium door and window frames are finished in black to blend with the black-painted Western Red Cedar cladding used on the front and left-hand elevations. Western Red Cedar is a highly durable timber with a natural rot and fungal attack resistance. The remaining walls are clad in Cedral, a cement fibre board that is a maintenance-free finish. Cedral is coloured during the manufacturing process and comes in various colours. In this case, the customers chose the black option.
Inside, Executive Garden Rooms finish their buildings to a high specification, with plastered and decorated walls and ceiling and wooden flooring. The electrical package includes LED recessed internal and external down lights, a smoke alarm, external security light, and workplace essentials such as a WiFi connection and plenty of power sockets. Executive Garden Rooms make the final electrical connection between the outdoor room and the house as part of their overall service.
Customer comments
From start to finish, our experience with EGR has been second to none. The design and commissioning of the garden room, including some bespoke modifications, was both speedy and efficient, and the final build took place precisely on schedule. Our building, which has been constructed on site from scratch, is of a very high quality, extremely well insulated and beautifully finished. It has been a pleasure to work with EGR.
