When buying a garden room, you will want to get a quote from three or so companies, so that you can compare your options. The actual quote for the project will be sent to you following a site survey. During the site visit, you will have the opportunity to express your desires for your new building and choose the finishes and design features you want to incorporate.
The quote should confirm these choices in writing, and layout the price for the project and the payment terms.
Over the years, we have seen a lot of garden room quotes from several different companies. We recently got to explore a quote document by Garden Spaces and were very impressed at how detailed it is. Which must offer their customers a lot of peace of mind as they enter into the purchase.
Some of the quotes we have seen over the years are just a dimensioned floorplan and elevation, standard specification and price for the project. Garden Spaces go into far more detail, showcasing standard finishes and clearly pricing optional upgrades. They also go into detail in the quote about the site, highlighting where the installation team can park and what will happen with the site waste.
Garden Spaces have given us permission to share extracts from their quote here. You will notice black boxes where we have redacted the customer's details.
Specification details
In the quote, Garden Spaces go into a fair amount of detail about the layout of the building and its specification.

The quote starts with a 3d visualisation of the garden room, followed by dimensioned elevation drawings. The elevations show the cladding finish chosen. In this case, it was decided to mix Cedar cladding on the front elevation and a side elevation with Cement Particle Board on the other two walls.
The dimensioned floor plan is colour coded so that you can identify the different layers in the multi-layer build-up. It is a nice touch that the acoustic specification level is also highlighted. Garden Spaces offer several acoustic specification levels, so you can pick a soundproof level that works for you.
When it comes to the windows, the quote specifies the size, opening style and fittings of each window. The quote highlights your double glazing options and the cost of upgrading to a higher performance glazing system.
Electrical plan
The quote includes an electrical layout plan. The colour-coded plan highlights where the consumer unit, power sockets and light switches will be located. The plan also shows the positioning dimensions for the LED downlights in the ceiling. We haven't seen many quotes that go into this level of detail.

The pricing table alongside the electrical plan also shows what fittings are included in the standard specification and the price per unit for optional extras such as data sockets or USB power points.
The electrical section goes on to show your different options when it comes to heating. It clearly lists out the prices for options such as underfloor heating or a climate control system.
Garden Spaces also offer a range of home automation systems which you can control with your smartphone or via your voice-activated home assistant device.
Detailed site survey
The quote also confirms the location of the garden room and its measurements from the boundaries and any trees. The quote also details where the installation team will park and where a skip for site waste will be positioned.
