We recently wrote about how your choice of doors for your garden room can have a big impact on its appearance and useability. This stunning building by Bridge Garden Rooms showcases the impact bi-fold doors can make on the look and feel of an outdoor room.
The 6m x 4m garden room is from Bridge Garden Rooms Derwent Range. It features a corner of floor to ceiling glazing, incorporating a 4 meter wide set of bi-fold doors. A 1100mm window wraps the glazing around the corner of the building.
When closed, the four-leaf set of bi-fold doors frame views of the garden while letting lots of light into the room. It is when they are opened you get the real wow factor! This photo shows how the doors concertina along the track, stacking at one side of the building, creating a wide opening letting the room flow out onto the large composite deck that waps around the building.
The bi-fold doors have high-spec, powder-coated aluminium frames, and feature double glazing fitted with integral blinds - these are well worth the expense of adding to your doors and windows!
The Anthracite Grey finish of the door and window frame has been colour matched with the trims used on the roof fascias and the skirting around the base of the building. We think it rather smart how the Bridge team have detailed the skirting, disguising the sloping ground.
The dark grey trims look very crisp next to the rich reddish brown of the Western Red Cedar cladding and the lighter grey composite decking. Composite decking has largely replaced wooden decking in garden room design as it maintains its colour, is resistant to rot and doesn't become slippery in the way wooden decks are known to do.
Exterior grade LED lights have been fitted in the roof canopy and along the side of the building in the soffit. At night, these will create a lovely curtain of light in front of the building.
LED lights have also been used inside the room. They have been recessed into the ceiling, which along with the walls has a fully plastered and decorated finish. The room has a wooden floor, creating a light modern interior.
The Derwent Range of garden rooms starts at £13,220 including VAT based on a 3m x 3m building.
