Extending the roof beyond the front wall, to create a canopy detail, adds a lot of character to a contemporary style garden room. Combined with a decked veranda below, it can create a welcoming entrance to your room, and if deep enough, it can be a lovely sheltered spot to sit.
Modern Garden Rooms have designed a Canopy Range, that features the combination of decked veranda with canopy detail above. They have recently shared some examples of this range on Instagram.
These examples show how good a roof canopy detail can look on garden rooms large or small. Modern Garden Rooms let you choose the depth of canopy that works for you. As we can see in these examples, some people opt for a narrow canopy and a veranda which is more of a step, while others go for a much deeper variation.
With the deeper variants, you can easily place a chair and table to create a sheltered spot to sit with a drink. It is also lovely how the doors of a garden room open out onto the veranda, creating a halfway space between the insulated room and the wider garden.
Modern Garden Rooms finish their roof canopies in the same Cedar cladding as the walls. This creates a coherent appearance that works well.
One of the hidden benefits of adding a canopy to the front of a garden room is that you can have lights recessed into the underside of the canopy. These lights cast a lovely curtain of light down the front of a garden room, which is a great addition to the overall design.
You can quickly see what a canopy garden room would look like, and find out how much it will cost by using the Modern Garden Rooms configurator. It is quick and easy to use, so give it a go!
