Granny annexes / micro homes in the garden have been one of the big trends in the garden room industry this year. Many garden room suppliers offer them as they are a great solution to create a new home for a relative – young or old. Granny annexe / micro home buildings are slightly different to standard garden room designs in that they need to be Building Regulations compliant and will require Planning Permission to build.
Minature Manors are a supplier who offers granny annexe buildings as part of their bespoke design & build service. They recently completed L-shaped annexe which sits on a footprint of 7 meters by 4.2 meters.
The annexe is made up of one large multi-purpose living space, which can be zoned for daytime living and sleep with the clever positioning of furniture. A 1.8m x 2m shower room sits in one corner. This is fitted with a shower cubical with electric shower unit, toilet and sink. The shower room has a durable vinyl flooring.
A modern kitchenette has been fitted in the recess created by the shower room, Even in this compact space six storage units, oven, microwave and sink have been incorporated.
The interior of the annexe has a light and airy modern feel. It features plastered walls and ceiling and laminate flooring. The main room has a great connection with the garden thanks to the large set of aluminium bi-fold doors, once folded back they will open up the front wall of the building. There is also an aluminium framed, double glazed window to the end elevation.
Outside a decked area with inset lighting wraps around the building and leads to a covered area which features a hot tub.
The annexe is built on a traditional concrete slab foundation.
