Crane Garden Buildings have added a new garden room design to their range. The Holt is more contemporary in style than some of the other designs that Crane are known for.
The Holt is an interesting concept as you can order just the garden room or extend the veranda area to create a covered outdoor seating area. This type of inside-outside lifestyle is growing in popularity. You have the insulated room designed for comfortable year-round use, and a sheltered seating area for when you want to be outside.
This sheltered seating area could be used for so many different uses; for instance, you could add an all-weather sofa or a dining table for entertaining. Alternatively, you could use it for something more relaxing - it could be the perfect spot for a hot tub.
Two walls of glazing
A great feature of the Holt garden room is the two walls of floor to ceiling glazing. When sitting inside, you will feel a lovely connection with your surroundings.
A pair of outward opening doors have been mixed with fixed pane, full-height windows to create these glazed walls.
The doors and windows are timber-framed, and Crane Garden Buildings offer an extensive palette of colours you can choose from for the frames, including a selection of Farrow & Ball colours.
Matchboard interior
Inside, the Holt has a matchboard interior. You have the option to leave the timber in its natural state, whereby you get to appreciate the grain of the wood. Alternatively, you can choose a painted finish.
As we can see, matchboard clad interiors offer a soft, stylish look compared with their plastered and decorated counterparts. There is also the bonus that you will not get the cracks that are possible with a plastered garden room interior.

Lots of sizes to choose from
The Holt comes in several sizes from 3m x 3m to 4.6m 9m. You can choose to buy the garden room with just its wrap-around veranda, as you see in the example below:
Or you can add the covered seating area to one side. This covered area is available in 1.8m, 2.4m and 3m widths. This image shows how good the larger sheltered area can look:
Configure your ideal building
Crane Garden Buildings have show sites dotted across the country. But you can order your Holt garden room online using their configurator.
You start with the insulated building, the price of which includes VAT and installation on to a pre-prepared concrete base. However, you can request that the Crane team install this concrete foundation as part of the online configuration process.
As you move through the configurator, you can choose whether the building is right or left handed. How deep you want the veranda or covered seating area and the colours you wish the exterior or interior to be finished.
You also need to select if you wish electrics to be included. We are a little surprised that these are an optional extra, as electrics really are a must to ensure your garden room is as versatile as it can be, now and in the future.
As you make your choices, the prices are updated in the sidebar, so you can see the effect your decisions are having on the overall project cost.
