When building a garden room, it is a good idea to think about how it is going to sit alongside the main house. Some owners choose to make a stark design contrast between the house and garden room, while others prefer to reflect elements of their house in the garden room.
JML Garden Rooms was commissioned to create a modern, highly insulated garden room that reflected elements of the traditional style house.
Reclaimed materials add traditional detail
JML Garden Rooms customer chose one of their pitched roof garden rooms from their Highlander Range. The specification was tailored around their client's desire to reflect the traditional elements of the house.
The JML team sourced reclaimed Scottish Slate for the roof. They also used cast iron downpipes for the rainwater system.
These traditional materials were combined with the latest in high-spec doors and windows: triple glazed AluClad.
Multifunctional space in the garden
JML Garden Rooms customer commissioned the project because they wanted to spend more time in their garden and enjoy the impressive views of the Perthshire Hills.
They wanted to create a space that could be used for several different uses. They planned for it to be a place for yoga and painting. A flat screen TV was added so it could become a space for family film nights and for watching sport.
It would also be a peaceful retreat for homework and exam study.
A large deck was added in front of the garden room with the French doors opening up on to it. This creates both inside and outside space to enjoy the garden and views beyond.
Bespoke storage solutions
JML Garden Rooms handled the whole project from initial ground clearance right through to creating fitted furniture.
JML's in-house joiners created bespoke MDF wall cabinets and drying racks so that the customer could store her artwork and materials. These were then painted to match in with the interior of the room.
