Over the years, we have featured several of Ark Design Build's garden annexes. Our particular favourites are this garden apartment and this small granny annexe which cleverly maximises every inch of space.
Large garden annexe
Ark Design Build recently completed this 10m x 5m garden annexe for a family in Kent. Internal walls have been positioned to create three rooms, the largest of which is an open plan living space that features a well-specified kitchen.

The Ark Design Build team understand that they are creating a home for someone; over the years, we have been aware of them taking time to help with the finishing details - we remember them telling us how they installed hooks in specific places for houseplants to hang. Not all garden room companies offer this type of service.
Ark Design Build's attention to the finishing details is shown in the bedroom, where custom shelving has been installed around a pull-down bed. A pull-down bed is a great space-saving idea, allowing a room to be used one way during the day and then for sleeping at night. Ark Design Build's garden apartment project we mentioned earlier also features a fold away bed.
The annexe has a lovely arrangement of glazing. The bedroom features a mix of two long windows and a picture window that cleverly lets lots of natural light into the room, yet the arrangement offers a degree of privacy.
The main living space features a large set of sliding doors on the front elevation and a wall of bi-fold doors on the side elevation. As we can see, these bi-folds open up onto a large composite deck area, creating a fantastic connection between indoor and outdoor spaces.
Ark Design Build offer its clients a turnkey service. They handle the whole project, from designing the building and getting it through the planning stage. They then run the build, including the groundworks for the plumbing, connections to the mains services and having the work signed off by building control.
