This stylish garden office with its black external cladding is a bespoke design by Miniature Manors. The 7m x 4m building has been designed as a multifunctional space, acting as a home office and gym with an ensuite shower room. The tailormade specification includes acoustic glazing and preparation for the installation of a log burner.
7m x 4m garden office & gym
Miniature Manors clients wanted to create a home office and exercise space and commissioned a 7m x 4m building, which will provide them with plenty of room for both uses. This is the beauty of garden room design; one room can be designed around multiple uses.
The building includes a well-specified shower room, ideal for freshening up after a workout or to save you from breaking off from work if you need to use the loo. Miniature Manors undertake the groundworks for the shower rooms connections to the mains services as part of their overall service.
As we can see in these photos, the interior of the garden office has the look and feel of a room in a new build house. Miniature Manors have plastered and decorated the walls and ceiling and mixed the finish with durable laminate flooring.
Preparing the structure for a log burner
Miniature Manors clients wanted to add a log burner in their garden office. Working alongside a specialist wood burner installer, the Miniature Manors team designed the structure to accommodate the requirements of the log burner.
The fully insulated structure combined with the log burner means this garden office will be a super cosy place to work on the colder days of the year.
Sliding doors with acoustic glass
One of the reasons the clients chose to work with Miniature Manors was because they could install acoustic glazing in the doors. Large expanses of glazing can leak sound, so by specifying specialist acoustic glazing, the owners will reduce sound transmission from both inside and outside the room.
The office has a great connection with the garden thanks to the large set of sliding doors that have been fitted on the front elevation.
Miniature Manors fitted a 4-panel inline sliding door set. With this type of sliding door system, you have two fixed panels at either end of the opening. The opening doors are positioned inline, meeting in the middle and sliding back over the fixed panels. This configuration creates a wide opening offering free-flowing movement between indoor and outdoor spaces.
As we can see, inline sliding doors look great! Another benefit is that they often work out cheaper than bi-fold doors.
There is also a pair of desk height windows on the left-hand elevation and a small opening window in the shower room.
Black featheredge cladding
The exterior of the garden office has been clad in black featheredge cladding. As we can see, the tapered boards create a finish that has real texture and character.
Black cladding, whether it be featheredge timber like this or a composite board, is growing in popularity for garden rooms. It is a striking design choice that marries well with the natural colours of the garden.
