Outdoor offices are well insulated so that they are warm places to work in winter, but equally, so they are cool in summer. While you could easily throw open the doors to let in cooler air on a hot day, many buyers choose to add an air conditioning unit to give them touch button control over their working temperature.
As a bespoke designer, Executive Garden Rooms will work with you to choose the best heating or cooling system for your needs and intended use.
For this outdoor office project, they chose a Daikin air condition system. The unit features built-in wi-fi, allowing the owners to control the temperature via an app on their phone.
This is convenient while you are in the room and offers the flexibility of turning the air con on from the house. Ideal on a hot day, for instance, you can switch the system on from the house before you leave, knowing that your office will be at the perfect temperature when you start your working day.
The air conditioning systems used in outdoor office buildings have two units. The larger of the two units sits on a bracket at the side or back of the building. As we can see in this photo, it has been positioned in one of the side walls.
The second, smaller unit sits high up on one of the internal walls, quite discreetly.
Outdoor office for two
The air conditioning unit is also fitted with a movement sensor. If you leave the office having forgotten to turn the system off, it will power down itself, saving energy and money.
As we mentioned earlier, Executive Garden Rooms are bespoke designers, so they will tailor the building around your wish list, from the building's size to the finishes used.
This outdoor office was designed for two people to work comfortably side by side. It has an overall footprint of 5.5m x 3.5m.
Externally, low maintenance Cedral cladding has been fitted. Cedral is a cement fibre board that is coloured during the manufacturing process. It comes in a wide range of colours and doesn't require painting to maintain its appearance.
Low maintenance uPVC doors and windows have been chosen. The anthracite grey finish looks sharp next to the paler Cedral colour.
A pair of French doors are flanked either side by full height, fixed pane windows creating a wide expanse of glazing.
A good size top hung window has been positioned on the side wall. The owners can easily push this open to let air into the room.
Internally. the room has been plastered and decorated. This high spec finish has been mixed with a laminate wood floor. This, mixed with the floor to ceiling, creates a light, bright room.
The electrical specification includes LED downlights, both internally and externally. Data cabling was fitted for a reliable internet connection. The outdoor office also has plenty of power sockets and a smoke alarm.
As part of the end to end service that Executive Garden Rooms offer their clients, the Executive team connected the outdoor office's electrics to the mains supply in the house in accordance with Part P of the Building Regulations.
Executive Garden Rooms completed this outdoor office in two weeks on-site.
