A big trend in garden room design is to add a covered deck area alongside the fully insulated outdoor room. This combination creates a space in the garden that you can use all year round - whatever the weather!
Garden Fortress offers a range called the Classic Garden Room 6, which combines a contemporary-style insulated outdoor room with a large covered deck area that could be used as a dining space or hot tub.
Garden Fortress offers the Classic Garden Room 6 in several standard sizes, which you can find in the price guide if you scroll down on this page. Garden Fortress are also able to design their buildings in bespoke sizes too. This example, for instance, features a 5.4m x 3.4m insulated room with a 2.5m covered deck alongside.
The owners of this outdoor room will be able to enjoy their beautiful views all year round. The insulated, double-glazed room features a corner of floor-to-ceiling glazing, which frames the views. The covered deck area will offer a sheltered seating area for the warmer days of the year.
Cedar & burnt Siberian Larch - a striking combination
Often we see this type of outdoor room with a large covered deck clad externally in one material, commonly Western Red Cedar. With their Classic Garden Room 6 range, Garden Fortress have chosen to mix two durable cladding materials - Cedar & Larch. The result is very effective, with the black Larch finishes drawing your eye to specific details and enhancing the rich colouring of the Cedar.
We love the way the black-clad walls offset the Cedar clad underside of the roof canopy.
Rather than paint or stain the Siberian Larch black, Garden Fortress used a Japanese technique of brushing and burning the surface of the wood. This technique enhances the durability of the cladding and creates this contemporary black aesthetic.
The black finishes have been continued for the door and window frames and the deck, which is finished in a black composite decking board. Composite decking will maintain its colour and doesn't become slippery in the way timber decks can.
Plastered and decorated interior
Garden Fortress offer a high-spec plastered and decorated finish for the walls and ceiling of their rooms. The floor is a light grey laminate, trimmed with black skirting boards, creating a contemporary interior look.
The electrical specification includes LED downlights internally and externally, which can be controlled by remote control from the house. Look closely, and you will also spot that Garden Fortress have added reading lights on the rear wall; we imagine they have been perfectly positioned for a couple of comfy chairs to be added. It's nice to see how the Garden Fortress team can tailor the electrical specification for each customer.
