A few garden room companies can install their buildings on a building's rooftop. One of them is Booths Garden Studios, and we featured a small garden office they installed on a rooftop terrace.
The Booths team have recently shared another rooftop project they completed in 2021. They installed one of the QCB studios as a writing room for award-winning film director Gurinder Chadha OBE.
The conditions for the planning approval for this project was that the garden office be no taller than 2m high. Garden offices are typically 2.5m high, so the Booths team had to modify the height for Gurinder.
If you watch this video, you can see that the reduced height does not compromise the room's usability. Gurinder has space for a desk for writing and a sofa for downtime.
The office has been fitted with air conditioning so that Gurinder can control the temperature in her office all year round. She mentions in the video that she has been comfortable working in the office on both the hottest and coldest days of the year and feels the building has a real solidity.
Booths Garden Studios are delivered to the site in parts, which makes them ideal for sites with challenging access routes. The Booths team have the installation process down to a fine art, and this office was installed in just a day, meaning minimal disruption for Gurinder and her neighbours.
Booths Garden Studios have recently launched a new website that showcases how other customers are using their buildings as garden offices, do explore it.
