This project by Garden Fortress is full of features. Based on their standard design Garden Room Plus, the design has been tweaked to meet the customer’s needs and tastes. The Garden Room Plus range incorporates a storage room, which has become a very popular feature with buyers who are looking for a building that serves more than one use.
The standard Garden Room Plus design has a roof canopy extending beyond the front elevation. With this design, however, the canopy has been replaced with a recessed front wall detailing. This has been accentuated by mixing the Cedar cladding with soft grey colour rendered finish. Garden Fortress use a modern silicon-based render which comes pre-coloured, so does not require painting. They have finished the door to the storage room in the same colour, so it blends into the wall.
High spec soundproof studio
Garden Fortress’s customer wanted to create a soundproof studio. Together, Garden Fortress and their client have created a high spec acoustic package. In our experience, the acoustic packages used in garden room design vary greatly between companies. This example, however, is full of features.
A key element of this acoustic design is a second studwork frame. They have created a room within a room. The two structures are not connected which reduces vibration and thus noise. This structure has been coupled with acoustic underlay and plasterboard. Acoustic glass has been fitted in the doors.
Fitted kitchen & shower room
The 6m x 5m garden room also features a kitchenette and compact shower room with shower, toilet and basin. The hot water for the room is supplied by a water heater discreetly fitted under the sink.
A pumping station was installed and the water and waste services connected by a trench to the houses mains supply.
Garden Fortress offers a well specified electrical package. In this case, the specification included LED lights recessed in the ceiling and exterior grade LED lights that will cast light down the front wall.
The customer chose to upgrade the heating system to a slimline panel heater that is fitted with a wireless thermostat and timer.
Garden Fortress has created a time-lapse video of the project, which is well worth a watch as it shows the whole project from groundworks to the finishing touches:
