This bespoke garden office design by the team at Swift Garden Rooms was commissioned by a customer who had recently moved to the coast and wanted to split their work time between the City and a home office.
As you can see from the photo, this is a striking design that stands out in the crowd of Cedar clad cubes. Swift’s client approached them with a defined design brief, wanting to create a garden office building that complemented the contemporary style extensions that were being added to the main house. This involved using a bespoke palette of materials.
The aluminium fascias on the roof and wall detailing have been colour matched with the frames of the aluminium bifold doors and windows. The composite decking veranda that wraps from the front elevation around the side of the building has also been colour matched with the doors. The graphite finish is broken up and softened with the addition of wooden cladding fixed vertically in panels between the glazing. Using a limited palette of materials like this is a clever way of creating a striking, modern design.
Swift’s customer also wanted a building of a very specific size to make full use of the space available in their garden. The garden office sits on a footprint of 5.37 meters by 3.37 meters which is a non-standard size. Because each building is manufactured to order, accommodating this specific size requirement, was not too much of a problem for the Swift team.
Swift Garden Rooms offer a turnkey service for clients, meaning they can handle the whole project for their customers from initial design, via any necessary Planning Application or Building Control consent right through to the internal decoration. This means that buildings are ready to move your furniture in to as soon as the Swift team leave site.
The owner of this garden office will have been able to start work soon after the building was completed. Swift Garden Rooms offer hard wired internet connection on all their buildings for a reliable connection to anywhere in the world. Swift also fit USB sockets in their buildings for easy charging of the phones, tablets etc. that we remote workers rely upon!
A small room was created at the rear of this building to house a w.c. This addition makes the office self-contained from the main house and increases the usability and flexibility of the building today and in the future.
