How they’re built
The Timeless Garden Room specification looks very good, and garden room will be suitable for comfortable year round use.
Timber
Timeless Garden Rooms have a solid timber framework, all timbers used are stress graded to C16, external timbers are preservative treated to protect against inset and fungal attack.
Floor
The floor comprises of 200mm joists and a sandwich of exterior grade plywood, mineral fibre or rigid insulation and moisture resistant chipboard flooring. It is important in any garden room for air to flow under the building and this is achieved by sitting the floor frame on metal feet which then sit on the concrete foundation.
Walls
The walls are 150mm thick, insulation is fitted between the studs and the walls incorporate the important vapour membranes. Externally pressure treated, traditionally planed featheredge boarding is fixed, whilst internally the walls are finished in moisture resistant MDF.
Roof
The roof structure incorporates insulation between the rafters and a vapour membrane; internally you have the option of pine boards or moisture resistant MDF. Externally the roof is finished in Western Red Cedar shingles which are very aesthetically pleasing. The pitched roof creates a vaulted ceiling which creates a light and airy feel, the rafter detail is on show.
Doors & Windows
The doors and windows are timber and are double glazed; the doors feature brass hinges and 5 leaver locks whilst the windows have lockable stays.
Finishing Touches
Externally the woodwork is finished in three coats of micro porous paint, barge boards and decorative finals complete the look. Internally the garden rooms feature skirting and pelmet boards, the walls are finished in three coats of emulsion in a choice of colour whilst skirting’s etc are varnished.
Build Time
Timeless garden rooms take a maximum of two weeks to build on site; this is dependent on the size of the building.
