This modern home gym building by eDEN Garden Rooms has not one but two rooms for exercise equipment. There is also a good size shower room for freshening up after a workout.
The two-room layout and the inclusion of a shower room future proofs this building. Perfect as a home gym today, the building could easily be used for another use in the future. This sort of versatility adds considerable value when you come to sell your house.
3m tall garden gym
Typically garden rooms are 2.5m high, but when building a garden gym, many buyers are opting for a taller building that offers greater ceiling height. This extra ceiling height making it more comfortable when using treadmills, cross trainers etc.
Not all garden room companies will design you a taller garden room, but as bespoke designers, eDEN Garden Rooms will design a building that works for your needs.
This garden gym is 3m tall at its highest point. To comply with the Permitted Development rules, this meant the building needed to be positioned at least 2m from any boundary, or planning approval would be required.
eDEN's customers have a large garden, so the building could easily be positioned 2m from each boundary line.
Concrete foundation to take the weights
When building a garden gym, your designer will work with you to calculate the weights of the equipment you plan to add and advise on the best foundation system to support it.
In this case, a concrete slab was chosen to spread the weight evenly across the footprint of the building. The eDEN team have established relationships with a network of trades, and called on a specialist groundworks company to install the concrete foundation.
Windows positioned to offer a view as you workout
The doors and windows have been positioned to provide good views of the garden while using different pieces of equipment. In the main room, bi-fold doors have been fitted. The owners can slide the doors to one side on a nice day, creating a lovely inside-outside space.
Two long windows with opening sections have been perfectly positioned in the smaller room to frame the views from a treadmill and a cross-trainer.
Ensuite shower room
This garden gym building is completed with a shower room - the eDEN team organising the groundworks and connections to the mains supplies for their customers.
Cedar clad garden gym
Externally the garden gym has been clad in Western Red Cedar. As we can see, this has been beautifully detailed - just look at the mitring on the soffits!
